Sustainability
Responsibility by Conviction
Timeless design, durable products and regional production make sustainability at Friesland Porzellan not a trend but a core part of our philosophy. Since the 1950s we have been producing at our site in Varel, northern Germany, with a focus on craftsmanship, short supply chains and the conscious use of resources.
Built to Last – Not to Waste
Our products are made to last for years and not to end up in the trash. Whether it is a coffee mug, filter or coffeepot, Friesland porcelain is durable, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe and designed to last for generations. The longer a product lasts, the fewer resources are used and the less waste is created.
Responsible Production
From raw material preparation to the final firing, we rely on resource-efficient processes. We use recycled materials, optimize our energy consumption and operate much of our production in a closed-loop system. Excess materials are not discarded but reused, for example, by being turned into new casting slip.
Regional, Social, and Fair
All of our manufacturing takes place in Germany and has done so for decades. Short transport routes, fair working conditions and close collaboration with our team shape our daily work. This not only strengthens the region but also ensures the consistently high quality of our products.
Less Packaging, More Substance
We minimize unnecessary packaging, use recyclable materials and continuously develop more sustainable solutions for both e-commerce and retail.
Design That Endures
Friesland stands for elegant shapes with timeless appeal. Our classics such as Jeverland or Ecco are not replaced every season but are continuously rediscovered. This is sustainability achieved through design that lasts.
